I’ve booked an epic 130.9 miles sportive

Last year I started cycling, got a little fitter and completed my first sportive. Then, at the end of the year, I did my first charity fundraising event and rode a marathon for every working day in October for Birmingham St Mary’s Hospice – a total of 605 miles in a month.

The problem is, Christmas and New Year was around the corner and a little time off riding meant that fitness levels dropped and weight rose. So now it’s time for another big challenge and some serious training. Enter the Cyclists Fighting Cancer Sportive on 26th May 2019 – a 130.91 mi pain-filled ride with 7,363 ft of climbing,

This will be the furthest ride, with the most climbing I’ve ever attempted and, therefore, will need a pretty intense training plan with a very good diet if I’m going to even finish it within the maximum 11-hour timeframe. So that’s why I’m starting this blog – to share my progress, promote this latest charity ride and keep up the self-motivation.
